Birgit V.-L. Niclasen graduated in medicine from University of Copenhagen in 1983 and has been a family physician at the Centre for Primary Health Care in Nuuk, Greenland from 1990 until February 2007 when she started as a phd student on a project about “Indicators on child health and well being in Greenland”. During this work she is placed at the National Office of Prevention at the Ministry of health in Greenland, but are connected to the Danish Institute of Public Health and the Nordic School of Public Health in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her main interest is research on child health and child public health. She is the principal Investigator in the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study (
