Researchers´ Profiles - Gwen Healey

Gwen Healey is from Iqaluit, NU. She is the Executive Director of Qaujigiartiit/Arctic Health Research Network (AHRN) – Nunavut. Gwen holds a B.Sc. in Physics from Queen’s University in Kingston, ON, and a M.Sc. in Community Health Sciences from the University of Calgary in Calgary, AB.

AHRN is the first Canadian tri-territorial health research network linking northern regions. The network includes health research centers based in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. To work towards its mandate to improve health outcomes through research, this network is a community driven, northern lead, health and wellness research network that facilitates the identification of, action on, and building capacity to address health research priorities in the three territories.

Gwen’s research interests include Inuit women’s health, maternal and child health, sexual health and traditional Inuit medicine. In addition, she has spent time working in Norway and Finland with the University of the Arctic on issues related to health, education and student exchange opportunities in the Circumpolar countries.
